Probation Department Responsibilities

Probation Officers supervise persons ordered to probation by the court to insure compliance with conditions, and ensure public safety, with a goal of guiding and supporting the individuals to become law-abiding, productive citizens.
Officers prepare pre-sentence investigations; operate a community service program; network with schools; treatment providers and other facilities as necessary to nudge the probationer in the right direction.
