Proceedings of Special Board Meeting

A special meeting of the County Board met June 12, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. and was called to Order by Chairman John Hammond. County Clerk Bill Downey led the pledge of allegiance.

Architect Craig Wright presented the Board with the plans and specs for the upcoming jail addition project.  Craig stated that there are pre-qualification specifications for the general contractor.  The general contractor must have previous jail/detention center building experience.  The general contractor must be bonded.  Tentatively the Board will advertise for bids on June 16 and bidders can pre-qualify on June 23.  There will be a pre-bid meeting on June 29 at 2:00 p.m.  Bids are to be in Wednesday, July 8.  Project is to be substantially complete in 300 days.  The estimated base bid is $2,862,312 plus 10 percent contingency.  There are also two alternate bids that are not included in the above amount.  The addition will be built to County jail standards.  Architect fees will be approximately $325,000.

 

Motion by Ted Perillo and second by Todd Kuhn to put the project out for bid. The Chairman put the question and upon the roll being taken all members present voted “aye”.  Whereupon the Chairman declared the motion adopted.

 

The Board received County Engineer Jack Ward’s resignation effective June 30, 2009.  State’s Attorney Dennis Simonton addressed the Board in regards to filling the County Engineer position.  Chairman Hammond instructed County Clerk Downey to run an ad in the local papers advertising for a new highway engineer.

 

Motion by Ted Perillo and second by Jerry Lowery that One Day and Mileage Claims be approved.  The Chairman put the question and upon the roll being taken all

members present voted “aye”.   Whereupon the Chairman declared the motion adopted.

 

Motion by Dale Murphy and second by Leroy Ingrum that the meeting be adjourned until June 19, 2009 at 8:00 a.m.  The Chairman put the question and upon the roll being taken all members present voted “aye”.  Whereupon the Chairman declared the motion adopted and the meeting was adjourned at 11:10 a.m.
